The mysterious creator of Bitcoin (BTC), Satoshi Nakamoto, continues to grow his fortune while remaining anonymous. According to Arkham, his wealth has reached a record $133.5 billion, surpassing the fortune of Microsoft founder Bill Gates, estimated at $118.7 billion. This surge is tied to Bitcoin’s historic rally, which jumped 3.4% on Thursday, August 14, pushing its price to $124,457.
The new price milestone placed BTC in fifth place among the world’s largest assets, with a market capitalization of $2.456 trillion, overtaking Google. The rally was fueled by expectations of Federal Reserve monetary easing, increased institutional investments, and positive market sentiment following the conclusion of the Ripple vs. SEC case.
Another catalyst came from President Donald Trump’s initiatives to allow alternative assets, including Bitcoin, in 401(k) retirement plans. These measures opened access to $12 trillion in pension funds, helping drive the overall crypto market capitalization to $4.18 trillion — up 67% from November 2024 levels.
